Welcome to the registration portal of the international conference “Uncomfortable Architectural Heritage of Socialism” to be held at the Zeughaus Cinema of the German Historical Museum in Berlin from 15. to 17. March 2012.
The conference is organised by students of the postgraduate degree “European Cultural Heritage” at the European University Viadrina in cooperation with the German Historical Museum and the state office for monument protection in Berlin.
The conference is centred on speeches from experts working in the fields of research, management or public institutions regarding the handling of uncomfortable architectural heritage of socialism in Eastern and Central Europe. It aims to bring different perspectives to light in an international context.
The conference addresses to interested persons from various areas of expertise. Its main object is to process parts of history together and to encourage intercultural and interdisciplinary communication on the subject. Moreover, the conference will provide the opportunity to establish networks especially amongst young researchers from Eastern Europe.
You may look forward to an outstanding scientific programme consisting of speeches, the opportunity to engage in intensive discussions. Furthermore, the German Historical Museum will provide an adequate film programme in the evenings.
